OOB (out of bounds) is the latest addition to my Photoshop tutorials section on agaraga.com. This is not exactly the everyday post processing one might do but it is a lot of fun for the occasional snapshot. The goal is to create a 3D effect out of a flat image or simply having parts of the subject popping out of the frame.

This tutorial was written for Photoshop but as long as your photo editor has something similar to layers, you should be able to do it just as well. For the step by step instructions, please see Out of Bounds (OOB).

It’s online now, the first Photoshop tutorial on agaraga.com. It’s not much but it’s starting to come together. Not sure yet how the design will hold up when there is more content and screenshots but I’ll take it step by step.

In the first tutorial, I show a neat trick to reduce banding seen when an artificial gradient is applied. This could be anything from a shadow effect to a sky replacement, so if you ever came across that posterization effect and didn’t know what to do, check it out! (more…)
